8 Remedies to survive your little ones stomach bug 8 rimedi per sopravvivere all’influenza intestinale

A lot of time away from my blog. No time and no energy to write because of a terrible stomach bug of my kids and my nephew.

My sister with kid and my mom arrived last tuesday. On Friday my little nephew started to vomit and from that moment the NIGHTMARE.
My daughter began on saturday and my son on sunday. They’re still very weak and the tummy doesn’t feel right.
THat’s a disaster. I was waiting for this moment to spend with my sister and my Leonardo so bad and now we’re all locked at home with sick kids!!!
Anyway I learned a few important tips to survive these situation.
1. Diarrhea:
Probiotic as soon as possible and the B.R.A.T. diet: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. My kids actually love to eat a lot of crackers. The one with a little bit of salt that help with the nausea too.
2. Nausea:
if the kids (or you) have stomach flu, they probably will vomit everything they try to eat and drink. Even a little bit of water.
My kids were very very thirsty and of course they need to drink. They also HATE Pedialyte…
I bought all sort of Gatorade and smart water and there are also wonderful homemade pedialyte recipes:
1. First Version:
You’ll need:
4 cups water
1/2 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp sugar or honey
1/2 tsp salt

Basic Recipe: Mix all ingredients together and sip on as desired. Refrigerate if a cold drink is prefered.

Flavored Recipe: Add 1/2 packet of Kool-aid to Basic Recipe.

Orange Juice Recipe: Add the soda and salt to orange juice mixed with water.

2. Version:
You’ll need:
2 quarts water
1 teaspoon baking soda
7 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup fresh-squeezed or bottled orange juice

Directions:
Stir all the ingredients in the water until they are completely dissolved. The solution can be stored in the refrigerator for a few days, or for a treat to tempt a child it can be made into popsicles (an ice cube tray and toothpicks work well if you don’t have a popsicle mold).

Options:
Add a squeeze of lemon juice or more orange juice to each serving if desired for flavor (but just enough for flavor because juice has a lot of sugar and can make diarrhea worse).

ANother good tip is to make with gatorade some popsicle so that they cannot drink the water too fast.
If they do not want any juice at all (like my little one), some water with suger can help too.
3. Fever: of course Tylenol. If your child though is vomiting everything you should try with the acetaminophen Suppositorium. (We use tylenol in suppositorium in Italy so we’re used to find it everywhere. Here I found it for kids at the CVS pharmacy).
4. Cover everything with towels and have a bucket in an handy position. You’ll never know when everything is coming out….
I also put away carpets in the living room.
5. Use little bottles of water and write the name of each kid and adult on it. Just try not to let those nasty viruses go everywhere!
6. Desinfect, sterylise and clean obsessively! I know, it’s a lot of work but everytime you have the chance just clean up and also try to refresh your kids. They’re exhausted and so weak they cannot move, but feeling clean helps a lot in my opinion.
Also change the air and let the windows open for a few minutes if the kids are not in the room.
7. Just stay calm and don’t freak out because your kids are watching TV all day, but try to move them and do something if they’re feeling better.
8. Rest whenever they’re sleeping. You MOM need a lot of energy and you do NOT want to get sick.
A sick mom is a disaster, so try to do your best and STAY AWAY FROM THAT VIRUS!
Please feel free to add some suggestions or more informations. These are only few tips I’ve learned in these crazy days!

TUtti moribondi senza forze e tutti chiusi in casa.
1. Prima versione:
Avete bisogno di:
450 gr di acqua
7 gr di bicarbonato
42 gr di zucchero o miele
7 gr di sale
Mischiare tutto e versare a piacere.
8. Riposate quando loro dormono. Dovete rimanere in forma. Prendete vitamine e fermenti lattici e curatevi. Nessuno vuole che la mamma si ammali. Una mamma ammalata è un disastro!
Ecco.
