Las Vegas
. Ormai la mia testa è per metà del mio tempo già a
San Francisco
L’altra metà cerca di godersi questi ultimi mesi qui. Vivere qua è stata un’esperienza inaspettata. Spostarsi da
New York
ed arrivare in una città così diversa è stato uno shock.
Il clima mi ha subito piacevolmente sorpreso. Arrivammo qua il
30 ottobre del 2008
il giorno prima di Halloween e mi ricordo di essere andata in giro per Halloween con Tommi in infradito e camicia a maniche corte. Incredibile!
E’ anche vero che dopo alcune settimane qui a Las Vegas ha nevicato. 30 cm di neve. Evento eccezionale visto che non cadeva un fiocco di neve da più di 40 ANNI. E ci voleva proprio il mio arrivo no?
Neanche dirvi che ci siamo immediatamente abituati alla casa. Come dire…passare da un bilocale minuscolo di Manhattan ad una villa con piscina… Beh, facile facile ve lo assicuro!
E così piano piano ho imparato a scoprire una nuova dimensione.
Parchi, divertimenti, caldo, sole (piove 10 giorni l’anno), praicità. Ecco Las Vegas è pratica. è “easy”. Trovi tutto a pochi minuti di macchina, non esiste il problema del traffico o del parcheggio. Mai. Si sta bene.
Questa città mi ha sorpreso e mi mancherà ma non vedo l’ora di iniziare questa nuova avventura a San Francisco.
Mi mancano gli stimoli culturali di una vera e propria città. Mi manca la “dimensione cittadina” che qui proprio non esiste.
A San Francisco ci sono stata solo una volta per un paio di giorni e ne sono rimasta affascinata. E credo che viverci sarà un’esperienza unica. Ora si tratta solo di trovare la casa giusta, nel posto giusto e soprattutto la scuola perfetta sia per Tommi ma anche per Giulia che inizierà ad andare all’asilo
Vi ho parlato un po’ di Las Vegas perchè sabato siamo nuovamente andati alla
Spring Preserve
e abbiamo per la prima volta visitato il
Museo del Nevada
.
Spring Preserve è un posto meraviglioso, un museo pieno di attività ben organizzate, giardino botanico e il museo è fatto davvero molto bene. Inoltre leggere la storia di Las Vegas è stato molto interessante!

My last months in Vegas. There is a part of me that is already in
San Francisco
(we’re going to move there by the end of the school year) and the other part is trying to enjoy these last moments here. Living here has been an exciting experience.
When we moved from New York and at first it was really a shock. Everything here is completely different.
I for sure enjoyed the weather. We arrived on october 30th and I remember walking down the street at the
District
with Tommy for Halloween with my flip flops. Amazing!
It is also true that after a couple of weeks, for the first time after 40 years,
was snowing
like crazy here! THat was really something…maybe a sign.
Las Vegas is really a nice place to live, it’s easy, it’s convenient.
You can find almost anything you need and without traffic. I’ll really miss it.
I’ve been to San Francisco only for a weekend and it is really an amazing city. I’m happy to move there. Now we only have to find the right place to live, the right house and the perfect school for Tommy and for Giulia too.
I’ve talked about Vegas because Saturday we went to the
Spring Preserve
and for the first time we visited also the
Nevada State Museum
.
The Spring Preserve is really a wonderful place, a museum with lots of activities, a beautiful botanic garden and now this State Museum.
It is so interesting to learn about the history of this city.
